It really wouldn't have, had the money been used wisely. For example, every bridge in the country that needs repaired could have been fixed for maybe 10 or 15% of that money.

Our infrastructure really isn't in bad shape. We don't need trains, as you suggest, because no one wants them except nutjobs like you who are analytically null. The marginal ROI of additional infrastructure spending is so low it just doesn't make any sense. What can be done is to build toll roads so that the people using them pay for them. This is why TX has such great highways where they're needed. They just make users pay for them.
