"On the other hand, if Sinovel does business in the U.S. (i.e., still does business), then life could get pretty miserable for them."

The action extends beyond the US even without the recent ruling. As I understand it, Sinovel has had a difficult time arranging for any contracts outside China. In international business, such international disputes cause others to steer clear until everything is resolved. Of course, Sinovel may do well enough with the business internal to China. AMSC's action certainly doesn't encourage any non-Chinese company to do business with Sinovel.

At least for a while, until some reparations are assigned and committed, this isn't good for AMSC or Sinovel.
