Net sales and gross margins in the fourth quarter of fiscal 1997 were negatively impacted by lower yields on newly qualified
magnetoresistive (MR) programs and 1.7-gigabyte-per-3.5''-disk inductive thin film products, which were in their first full
quarter of volume production.


This was from APM's latest earnings announcement. Does "yield" refer to profit margin? If so, MR heads are known to generate lower margin than TFI heads. From this APM statement, we cannot tell whether this yield is more or less than that RDRT generated from its MR heads -- that is the relevant futuristic comparison we need to establish, IMO.
