Yes, many superstitions in Buddhism arose and found are the same in Christianity (and Islam too) , what does that tell you? These are features displayed by all religions having grown out of (evolved) from similar attachments to cultural folk influences that date far back into the ancestral worshipping past. Yet when you examine the chief feature of teachings & practices why do so many similarities exist?

Prayer & meditation are very much one & the same, what happens in the afterlife hasn't really ever been shown to have much relevency as far as my experince goes. But especially good we do live in a time of openess to the comparative religious studies that are taught in most all schools today. We should include Meyers latest marvelous book part of that currculum & would be the first to endorse its placement there .
