Well, I was talking about US investors and I said "eventually." I don't think anyone who has missed out on the various bulls of this decade is happy about being left behind!

But by taking cautious short positions (as epitomized by the diversification offered in BEARX) there is at least the chance of sharing some of the wealth that one missed out on. With, of course, the chance of losing even more if the market simply doubles again over the next three years.

Vi, what do you think the United States might do if Japan continues to devalue the Yen by inflating its currency, thereby making its home-built (as opposed to the U.S.plants) automobiles (and a lot else) once again competitive in the U.S. market? Only months ago the U.S. was ready to blockade Japanese ships and seize ships already in port. I could imagine Congress reverting to old-fashioned protectionism very quickly if our prosperity began to slip.
