Canada unprepared for 2000 glitch

MONTREAL - More than 90% of Canadian companies are aware their
operations could be in trouble when the so-called millennium bug hits their
computers, but fewer than half have started doing anything about it.
These were some of the findings of a survey of 2,000 businesses
conducted for the government-appointed Task Force Year 2000 and
released Monday. The survey also estimated that the problem could cost
the Canadian economy a minimum of $9 billion to address.
