Good things happen when people get to keep their money.

Mostly in defense spending and corporate favors and tax cuts!

No mostly in entitlements, which are bigger, faster growing, and harder to control than defense spending.

Corporate favors have been growing, but that's an aspect of government getting bigger. The more the government gets involved the more those with money and influence will use it to favor themselves over others. As for tax cuts, they aren't spending. Highly targeted special tax breaks, while still not spending, could be considered an abuse of the tax system, but the best way to handle them is to get rid of the breaks while lowering rates.
