It must be a mystery to you how Apple is still selling tens of millions of units a quarter.
They sell millions because A) the iPhone 5 is a very nice phone in absolute terms, and B) They have a massive installed and devoted user base that won't just evaporate overnight... gives them the ability to "run on fumes", which is essentially what they are doing now as they are growing more slowly than competitors.

I was talking about a low-end iPhone that would take a step back in quality/features from the iPhone 5... how else would it be a much cheaper phone? That cheaper phone will be going against some very robust cheap phones, such as the S3.
