I'm afraid that the people of Egypt will be disappointed in ANY leader that comes to the fore. Whoever it is will fall victim to the fact that 30 years of authoritarianism has left them with a non-functional economy that depends on foreign aid just to FEED all the people. You don't turn that around overnight.

I think OUR interest will lie in helping, and avoiding the finger of blame from the Egyptian people. Obama just supported their freely elected leader, Morsi, and now is being blamed for enabling him. It's not fair, but, it is what it is.

I'm finishing the HBO miniseries 'John Adams' from a while back.
Still a terrific reminder of how our independence from Britain happened.
It wasn't easy as there were no rules on how to do it.
