Elmer, <Device physics didn't change in the last 3 months.>
The physics did not change in the last 20 billion years or so, that is for sure. But what if the process was recently corrected in the direction of higher voltage gates?

You guys together with process theorist Yousef-so-so are again fools around your own ASSumptions/ accusations.

Make-it-so-so again, Elmer-Yousef?

Elmer,

Re: "Something changed their mind.
Device physics didn't change in the last 3 months. The only answer is desperation."

You have hit on the correct answer ... this changing of the supply voltage
was obviously "Plan B" to fix the 233mhz yield problems. This could have
been done a number of months ago. it was only done after many months of
trying to solve a difficult process margin problem and AMD couldn't
wait any longer. They probably had Compaq and others "beating" on them
constantly for 233mhz parts. The pressure was too much and the process
solution was never found.

Make It So,
Yousef
