There is no Egyptian constitution. Morsi didn't want to instituent a body to draft a Constitution. He declared himself to be above the law and "answerable only to God." That is why the people came out. And it included the Coptics too thereby demonstrating that it had widespread support. I suggest you also read my post to SrK which I just made.

I am glad the military did what they did. Morsi and the Brotherhood were systematically consolidating power and minimizing the democracy by tearing it down. I think the people felt this first shot at democracy wasn't working and had enough of strong men and primitive dogma running the country.

Having said that, now that the brotherhood has been both humiliated, incensed by killings and backed in a corner, how do they save face or even accept events. And they are still a real foundation to that country.

The rife between shia and sunnie has really worsened from what I read.

But there was no way the middle east could move into the 21st century without a lot of conflict with the secular movement. So I sort of see it as a natural course of events that could not be avoided.

Shia, sunnie and the secular group will have to fight it out. In the end if anyone is left alive the secular folks will win. We all know that. All 7th century cultures are disappearing. Thank god.

I think our real worry should be China anyway.
