****OFF TOPIC****
Hi Doug, I think you said yesterday you were shorting AOL on all upticks... I took a look at the charts this morning and it seems like its an ok short very short term, on the downside I would probably start taking profits as we approach 75 or so. Just be nimble with AOL I don't think its going much lower than 75. Also I would use tight stops. Doug this is just my opinion and good luck whatever you decide to do!!

Doug, thanks for the post, because now I see where my estimate was wrong. I forgot that CREAF's higher profit margin last quarter benefitted from a sale of investment. That's why I was getting a ridiculous $1.09! $.90 sounds a lot more reasonable, though. Still pretty darn good! That would be a modest 17% surprise.

Doug: ML analyst opinion is 8% growth for CREAF in 1998 fiscal year.
That is why CREAF may not have the previous expected earning of $2.64 and will be $2.50.
However CREAF recently acquire Cambridge soundwork (HIFI). The financial data of HIFI will be integrated into CREAF in the Dec quarter. Traditionaly HIFI has highest and profitable quarter in the december quarter. Last year December quarter, HIFI generated $18.075 Millions and 14 cents per share profit. This revenue will probalbly offset the Southeast Asia revenue loss in the current quarter, (ML analyst said a possible 18% revenue reduction in the Southeast Asia). I do not know if ML consider the issue of the new CREAF acquisition on HIFI.

Overall, key issues are still the US and Europe sales in this holiday season. CREAF will make the number provided these two cylinders fire strongly.

Best regards,

Stanley

Doug and thread, I just e-mailed CREAF IR and PR people. I was trying to find out

1. What happened to the industry wowing announcements.

2. Sales information from the first generation DVD drive and last quarter's DVD sales, so we can determine this month's sales, as reported in the PC-Week article.

I'll let you know when I get a response.
