One reason for part time jobs soaring is to avoid Obamacare. In the past fifteen years, corporations were already getting rid of heatlh care wherever they could, but I expect it will accelerate dramatically now. Where my daughter works (summer job as a retail clerk) her manager is under order to reduce hours. I believe this is to push people under the threshold for health care (60, or maybe 75% time).
