Arun, I checked with Novatel about GPS World contest and here is...

Quite a few messages ago, I had brought up Novatel and Trimble. I have seen asked Novatel to clarify one point you mentioned as to the fact that Novatel sponsored the GPS World Contest (GPS World is a magazine on ... GPS for those who don't know). This is what I got from them:

>>
I would like to confirm some
details on the GPS World Application Contest and the extent of Novatel's
involvement as well as in what capacity Novatel participates in the contest.
1- Is Novatel a sponsor of the event? NO - there are no sponsors, this is run
strictly by GPSWorld editors
2- Are other companies GPS receivers used in the competition? GPS companies
submit applications of their products/receivers to the editors of GPSWorld for
contest
3- Which company/ies? Any GPS company/manufacturer is eligible to enter
competition with their specific product application, we have no way of knowing
which companies entered contest but did not make it as a finalist - there were
a total of 30 entrants

<<<

I thought that if as you had said, Novatel did in fact sponsor the competition, the outcome could certainly be affected by their financial participation. Since they tell me they do not sponsor it but rather only supply some GPS equipment to the participants, it must be that their products have won on merit alone .

Still following this thread actively.
