inode, the logic of your post seems excellent to me.

Except for your last sentence.

You seem to be saying that Bush was pushing for democracy at exactly the right time throughout the Middle East, yet the Middle East still has a VERY large economically disadvantaged and uneducated population.

I think that's what we saw in Egypt where Morsi was able to squeeze by in a very narrow vote because of the people in the rural areas that haven't had education and haven't benefited from any real economic advancements.

If you go to a village of cannibals and they say they are going to kill and eat you, it probably won't do you much good to get them to vote on it.
