Obama had his committee of 8: four pubs and four dems who negotiated for almost a year. he gave away the single payer and universal health care from day one, from the start, to try and appease the pubs.

Did you miss that part?

Then in the end all four of the pubs voted against their own stuff.

If the pubs had not contested it so much we would have single payer universal health care. That is what the Dems wanted. Most of them.
