We had to build the bomb because Germany had the best scientists in the world working on a nuclear bomb.

We had no way of knowing who would win the race first.

It was a huge government undertaking.

The German's had Heisenberg leading their effort and he may well have been smarter than Einstein.

Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

And fighting Hitler took a huge government effort.

And like I said the south lost to the north because the north had a better organized government.
