Very good! You're exactly right.

By the way, knocking people on their ass is against the law, even if they've been following you. The proper thing to do is to (a) run if you're younger, taller, thinner and more athletic than they are, (b) call the police if you feel that there's a threat, (c) knock on a door and ask for help, (d) ask them why they're following you.

There's probably some other legal things you can do when you find yourself followed but "knocking them on their ass" is not legal and it's quite dangerous. Never bring a fist to a gun fight.
