What plan private plan would have helped the poor and distraught during the great depression? What free market forces would enable social security and medicare. Alaska is in better shape than any state because we put 25/50% of all state resource revenue in a permanent fund for the kids. We have a huge government and we also have our social systems intact and a high quality of living. Other states don't have a permanent fund because , why? the don't like big government?
