My daughter threw away all her Michael Jackson CD's, of her own volition, because she was disgusted. I am not much of a CD (or book) burner, believing in a free press and everything. I do think boycotts can be very effective, and that they are a good political tool in a free society. I don't think Michael is laughing, incidentally, about his falling fortunes as an entertainer. He probably IS laughing that he is somehow so far immune from prosecution, and I think it is regrettable that famous people are held to different standards of behavior. Star-struck parents of young boys are STILL entrusting him with their children, as you can see from pictures in the press about his entourage. It is really too bad that there are people this stupid on the planet. Children need reliable parents to make good decisions on their behalf. One of the saddest things about the allegations concerning Jackson and molesting children, is that there were so many newspaper and magazine headlines, and television programs about it, that most children over about six in America were well aware of what was happening. One could argue that this was positive, since a lot of parents were able talk to their children about how not all adults are trustworthy. On the other hand, Jackson was one of the most popular musicians for this age group, so it was quite disenchanting. Do you support the rights of adults to sexually abuse children, or what, Jim? Do you just always automatically take the opposite view from me on every subject? You should be careful doing that--some people might think you are a real slime bucket!!!
