Actually, the trade secrets can be duplicated by reverse engineering if Cyrix wants to do this, although the complexity and time to completion is unknown. If Cyrix does adapt Slot 1, then this would definitely be a blow to AMD since they would be on their own. I would expect all the clones to agree on one standard, but this may not happen. This represents an interesting problem to any game theorists out there!!

Mohan thanks, I did realize this was old news. Paul actually gave us some thoughtful posts on this pretty recently. I just wanted to try and get Jeff's take on it.
