Arnie, I thank you for welcoming me to this forum, to which you've so greatly contributed. I think I can make a contribution here, but not quite on your level. I do feel a little shameful for lurking here for soooo long! I first bought into NXTL based upon the number of POPS (potential users) NXTL would have once the towers were up. This I think was roughly 300 Million then and is now maybe close to double that. Traditionally these (analog) POPS were valued at I think between 150 and 500 (which McCaw himself paid for LIN Broadcasting) each. The amount that BelSouth paid for just the area around Sao Paulo I think was about 3 Billion dollars or about $200 per POP. That's pretty high for a second world country. I regularly converse with Paul Blalock (Nextel Investor Relations) about new developements at Nextel, and will try to contact him tomorrow about your concern about the Brazil market. He's always very good at clarifying matters such as this. When I first invested Nextel was about $23 per share. I bought all the was down to 9.50 (9.50 for my IRA) knowing in the beginning that it would probably trend lower but that good news would come somewhere in the not too distant horizon. Craig McCaw bought in at about twelve bucks a POP, and that's a very nice wholesale price. The other advantage NXTL had was the fact that hundreds of towers were already up, only had to be modified. The only reason we can still buy this stock so cheap today, folks, is that it's still cash flow negative. And yes, lots of much bigger companies would love to have a piece of NXTL. NXTL is lean & mean, and I like that! I'll try to speak to Paul, tomorrow, and get some more information on the Brazil licensing matter. And, oh yes, we own an out-of-print bookshop in Kalamazoo, MI (my father & I) with a two story, flat-roofed building. Maybe I can sell SPRINT some tower space. They've got to get those towers up! Cheers, MV BABER
