The Dems aren't really trying to help the 99%. I voted for Obama, because I thought, as Dem, he really would help the 99%. But his support and non-prosecution of the banksters, support for Bernanke's QE and ZIRP is proof that he is for the 1% more than for the 99%. There are good things happening, though. The social liberal agenda is moving forward with DOMA and renewable energy, and so on. So there some real progress being made on things many of us on this thread care about. But when it comes to the economy, I hated what the GOP was doing under Bush with their crony capitalism and that's why I voted for Obama. Unfortunately, Obama has doubled down on crony capitalism and has turned out to be no different. These Keynesian policies are a recipe for a long and lingering malaise, which is exactly what we have gotten for 4 years now. Don't get me wrong. As a 1%er, my portfolio has grown dramatically over the last 4 years. I should love these policies. But you know why I don't? Because they are disastrous for the 99% and most probably for the world we older folks will leave behind. I don't want to leave a shitty world behind for my kids, but that's where we're headed.
