I won't quibble. I did not intend it as a "therefore" syllogism. I quite understand that society is the set and people are the elements. I thought there was some nudge value in the way I phrased it, but I completely agree with your point.

"He argues basically that his senses (perception of reality) are invalid but he must find a way to live on this earth. So he chooses supernatural divination as a means to learn truth and therefore survive. And How does he know that this received truth is true? From his SENSES!"

Funny, though, that they only deny reality in the realm of ideas. They do avoid sharp objects and they do use ladders and parachutes. And they generally smell brown stuff before ingestion. So they respect reality when something other than intellectual integrity or personal dignity is at stake...
