I agree that I am ultimately responsible for my money. But I do not think it is a stretch to see that the one who recommended the pick shares in some of that responsibility. This I think would be one of the key motivations to perform well. IMO it is undertaking a responsibility when I place myself in a position as an "authority" to recommend a pick to Joe Trader out there. But then I may be different than you and others here in thinking this.

I also agree that she cannot be worse than some of the newsletters that I have read too. But is this why a person would set up a newsletter? Just because they cannot be worse than some of the newslettes out there? Keep in mind that the newsletter may be at leaast indirectly responsible for placing much money at stake. IMO there would be a character issue here. But I understand that is just my opinion.

I am currently in the position to recommend stock picks to a freind of mine that has several million dollars to invest. I will probably end up turning this opportunity down. For I know I am not good enouogh for this, even though I have done well before with long term investments. Would I be able to look this guy in the face next Christmas after he has lost even 25% of his holdings by following my advice, which would amount to over one million dollars? "Merry Christmas, Jim, and oh, sorry about that million dollars I have helped you lose". I do not think so. And if I cannot handle this possability, then how can I ask others to follow my picks? This is inconceivable to me. But perhaps I am just different, that is all.
