Jaz 1 GB for 199.99 at J & R In NYC....same price as the Sparq 1GB..After looking at all the competition in tne high end removable storage market, I feel IOM is extremely well positioned for 2 reasons:

1. Laptop Zip. Being able to transport your files from your laptop to your desktop or work PC is a tremendous advantage for IOM over all other competitors. If IOM comes out with a 200 MB Zip that should clinch with out a doubt the low end/floppy market. Having a compatable laptop drive well sell alot more Zip disks (where the money is) and Zip drives because it will make the product more accepted in the work place. Iwould buy a laptop zip right now for my hyperdata laptop if one was available.

2. Low cost of the Zip Disk. I would rather give away a 7-10 dollar disk to a freind and not worry about it being returned than a 33 dollar 1 gb Sparq cartridge. The Zip disk is far more durable and reliable; and most business presentations dont need more than 100mb of storage.

I don't see the point in SYQT dumping their drives on the market for nothing. They can't possibly do this and expect to turn a profit; especially against an installed base of 11 million zips. I see them as a threat to Jaz, not to Zip. This still doesn't worry me.
