Although I am not crazy about how this all came about I don't think that an aborted merger is necessarily a sign of things to come. Mergers fall through all the time. I doubt a company is going to open it's books and business to a competitor unless their is an agreement of some kind. My guess is this is where the deal really fell thoughh. Both companies were probably aware that the announcement would send GT stock down. Mergers almost always do so I doubt that was the reason for the termination. Just my two cents.
