Some great kids in my neighborhood too. I gave the black kid next door a ride to school everyday for the past couple of years. He just graduated from HS, joined Airforce Reserves and has three part time jobs. His character is one of the finest I have ever met. Always respectful, goes to church, lives a clean and decent life, takes care of his mother (Immigrant from Kenya) and sister, (absent father). There are some thug wannabees in the neighborhood but they are respectful of me when we cross paths, so I have no issues with them. I got involved with the neighborhood kids when they were young, so I figure it has something to do with a strong male role model taking an interest, which I'm guessing is missing in most of their lives. Just a guess.
