The Benefit of Trial by Media and More
.............................................................................................................

This country has entered a new era of justice. Actually, it goes all the way back to the trial of O.J. Simpson, Jodi Arias and now George Zimmerman.

More and more the media have begun trying these cases on television and using public opinion and a high degree of emotionalism. Channel HLN, headline News, Nancy Grace has been prominent in this.

Now I believe that we will enter a new era that can be very beneficial to the justice system.

That of using the television media to actually try criminal cases in vivo. Before you disagree just think of the possible benefits. Theoretically this is being done right now. What I suggest would eliminate the need for paneling and paying jurors. Quite possibly even eliminating paying prosecutors and defense attorneys. It would also eliminate the need for selecting and impaneling a jury, which often requires a long time.

It could certainly save a great deal of time. The trials would be conducted just as they have been on television. Instead of a jury a 900 Number would allow viewers to call in with their votes for either Guilty or Innocent. Each caller would be charged a minimal fee of $3.00 to participate. Can you begin to see how efficient and profitable this would be? It was just announced that 800,000 people signed on to a petition in regard to the Zimmerman verdict. Just imagine 800,000 x $3.00 = $2,400,000 ! If this were set up in advance the result could bring in a much higher amount. Just think of the expenses that this would save the taxpayers! Plus faster justice as the calls could be tabulated much more rapidly and a speedy verdict reached. This would certainly be a more popular method than the lengthy method used today in most trials. Why this method could even be extended to government elections and political decisions. I am certain that it would be favored by our present Administration. Why we could even do away with Congress and have a self-paying way to govern.
