Wasn't 1394 the year of Charles Martell?

My cruise of the FireWire interest group at Comdex suggested that the take-off for 1394 will occur with release of NT 5.0.

Washington saves energy by requiring federal employees to use Energy
Star-certified, power-saving computers. But first releases of new chips
usually make it hard for manufacturers to meet power-consumption
guidelines.
Case in point: the Pentium II. While Compaq has been able to build a
Pentium II box that meets the federal standard, others have not. So
buyers have to fill make a formal request to buy power-hog equipment.
Says the government's Energy Star program manager, "Buyers who want
the latest equipment can either apply for a waiver or wait for a
subsequent release of the chip"-about three months.
Which puts Compaq in a very nice position.

Japanese rumors of US bond sells may cause problems again this next week.
Japan might sell some bonds but nothing massive...
they want the yen to $ to be alittle more lower.
