A recession (of similar severity to the early 80s recession) happened on Bush's watch. and a zillion books have explained how the banks caused it A financial crisis was a big reason behind the recession, and that involved bad loans, and securities based on loans, so banks and investment banks where obviously in the thick of it. But it also had cyclical elements, and roots in government policy, some of which go back many years. and the fact Bush refused to regulate them Only in your fantasy version of reality.
