I predict that within a day or two we'll see a flurry of stories setting the record straight, just as happened when CA claimed rates were being cut when in fact they were being increased. NY's rates are the highest in the country (due in significant part to state regulations that already implement some of the higher costing items in Obamacare). So, a 50% cut wouldn't bring them in line with where they would be if reasonable policy guidelines were allowed. But I seriously doubt these figures will prove to be factual. I would not be surprised to see more reputable news sources correct the NYT before the day is up, actually.

Health Plan Cost for New Yorkers Set to Fall 50% ........well.......we'll see. I fall in the category of having to buy individual insurance (retired but less than 65) My minimum income is about $45K but if I continue to liquidate my IRA and continue to sell options on my stock, it could easily exceed $65K. I currently have a plan which is probably equivalent to a Gold Plan and pay $382/month.........correction...$421/month in Dutchess County. I'll let everyone know how I make out in October...........detailing the whole experience.
