If Zimmerman didn't have a gun, Trayvon would be on trial for murder.

who got out of the safety of a vehicle

Why would he need the safety of his vehicle if Trayvon wasn't a threat?

The fact is, Zimmerman did need the safety of his vehicle because Trayvon was a threat. Regardless of why he didn't like the fact that a "creepy assed cracka" was following him, it is clear that Trayvon ambushed and attacked Zimmerman. It wasn't a fair fight where someone fired a gun when he was losing. It was an attack where a man defended himself against a vicious physical attack.

You ask what Trayvon was guilty of, but what was Zimmerman guilty of? This was Zimmerman's neighborhood. Trayvon was a guest. Zimmerman had every right to be there. He had every right to be in his vehicle and he had every right to get out of his vehicle. He had every right to carry a firearm as well.

What Zimmerman did wrong was to follow a kid who had a grudge. It may have been because he didn't like being followed when he was casing potential burglary locations or it could be because he thought he as a gay pedophile predator as his friend Ms Jeantel suggested.

He was wearing a hoodie and going home.
You can go to google earth and do the measurements. You can see for yourself how close Trayvon was to the place he was staying.

We also know that the "going home" part is false. From where Zim lost Trayvon to where Trayvon was killed is about 50 yards. From where Trayvon was killed to where he was staying is about 110 yds.

Zim lost sight of Trayvon where he parked his car. That is where the four minutes comes into play. We know that Trayvon was running. He was staying 150 yards from where Zim lost sight of him. Assuming that Trayvon was a slow runner, he could still have made it to where he was staying in less than a minute. So where was Trayvon for four minutes if he didn't go home? Was he laying in wait? Did he run past the T location to Retreat View Cir and circle back to where he was killed? We'll never know. But we do know for a fact that he could easily have made it home if that was his intent.

Either way, we know that Trayvon threw the first punch. We know this because there is no physical evidence indicating that Trayvon was hit by anything but a single bullet to the chest. If the evidence clearly indicates that the only person to throw a punch is Trayvon, then Trayvon was the only one who could have instigated the attack.

Don, the fact is that a fist fight broke out between Martin and Zimmerman, and that Zimmerman ended up on the losing end of that fight.

Who started the fist fight? No one knows for sure. But Martin did seem very interested in the "gangsta" lifestyle, which raises the possibility that he started the fist fight. After all, he wasn't going to let no "creepy ass cracker" disrespect him, right?

That seems just as likely, if not more, as Zimmerman hunting down Martin because "these f'n punks, they always get away."
