Was he being killed????
Maybe. But it is certainly reasonable to believe that your life is in danger if attacked at night by someone who is significantly taller and stronger than you. If you were out walking at night and you were attacked and got coldcocked with one punch that breaks your nose and then you end up on the bottom of a continued attack, there is nothing that you could say that would convince me that you wouldn't respond in a way that is consistent with believing that there is a possibility that your life is in danger. Now, your response might be different than Zimmerman's, but your response would be one which you believed would help you to end up alive rather than dead. Sometimes people will react by going limp....or playing dead. Certain animals do that. Some people would run....if they were able. And if they knew they could outrun their assailant. George was pinned on the bottom, so he couldn't get up and run. And even if he could, Trayvon could outrun him easily and catch him. But certainly fleeing is a legitimate response to a mortal thread. And still others would fight. Some would use their fists, some would grab whatever weapon is within reach.

If your son or daughter was on the bottom after being coldcocked by someone who ambushed the in the dark, would you want them to fight fair?
