The attack on the character of Bertrand Russell successfully barred him from one small teaching position, was a meaningless victory when we see the highest honors paid him later. This attack by the religious right was akin to what we see with blacklisting to follow in the 1950s McCarthy era. What is interesting to note that religious right still now living hopelessly in a cocoon of denial, since the last century we have seen the ever increasing trend towards more science, secular liberal empiricism & utilitarianism. And sadly for you, we see the religious right become less & less trusted and unpopular as moral authorities, unless you live in Moscow , Mecca or downtown Kabul, Afghanistan, which of course, makes perfect sense.
