I grew up in blue-collar “America,” and the white person who wouldn’t have said that was the exception. In the end, the freakin Lone Ranger was told not to follow TM, and did so anyway; that’s not self-defense, that’s taking video games a bit too far. And we don’t come back from that with another life. His entire voice throbs with a kind of lust he’s getting, a sexual thing it feels like, to be pursuing his prey with his weapon. That’s the biggest thing the voice says to me.
