So far, with 3 days to go for inputs, the average forecast (consensus) for FTEL's price on 2 Jan 98 is

$7.20. Range is from $4.12 to $12.81. For someone who bought at $9 or $10 - and expected the stock to hit $7.20 by the end of this year, it would make sense to hold instead of sell to claim a loss for tax purposes (for most people, anyway). Makes no difference if it's a tax free account. The value of uncertainty/risk of not reaching $7.20 must be weighed also (as well as the chance of far exceeding $7.20.

Consensus is, surprisingly, generally a pretty good forecast among weather guessers. It works best when the forecasters work independently before providing their input, so that they can't influence each other.

Have a good night everyone, I expect the next couple of weeks to be ... interesting. Bob.

Disclaimers - I'm not qualified to provide advice in stocks or taxes.
