Mining: Loan for Russian diamond producer collapses

MONDAY DECEMBER 8 1997

By Kenneth Gooding, in London

A $500m loan facility for Russia's biggest diamond producer,
Almazy-Rossi-Sakha (ARS), arranged by a group of western
banks, has collapsed.

This is a substantial setback for ARS, which urgently needs to
refurbish existing mines and finance new exploration.

Mike <dead cat bounce>,,,I look at charts only in a very general way,,,if I join the tops ,,It still has'nt broken the downtrend but there's a lot better chart guys on this thread,,,actually , as I hang around here long enough,,BK can mean UP or Down,,according to the thread meister ,, Bill Heub.... <Asian CEF's have rebounded too fast>,,,,,personally , and I read this along time ago, stocks going up for no apparent reason are much more bullish , than when the reason is obvious, and vise versa... , they seem to be buying the asian stocks because of the IMF bailout,,which they already knew was coming,,,IMHO,,very unsophisticated ,,,just for a glaring example ,, I think most people are quite confused about the decline in gold...but it continues ,,,now there seems to be coming, after the fact excuses to justify it,,,
