Drive is an important factor, but so is intelligence. The teachers unions and democrats have hobbled the inner city kids who likely have poor IQ potential to begin with. If one's parents are dumb and one attends a piss poor school the chance of realizing full potential is slim.

From the point of conception through say 10-12 years old, if a good trajectory is not set that person is likely to be smart enough to get through life without significant pain.
