I have known people with a chronic condition of "I wish I were somewhere else" which translates to "this place sucks." As the old saying goes, "The grass always looks greener on the other side." That may be what motivates cows and some libers to knock down fences but it rarely improves things and leaves us with the ongoing task of fence repair.

I don't know how anyone can throw out the term "the greatest nation" without substantiating that claim somehow. I would want to see data on things like: Productivity, Innovation, Contributions, Humanitarian, Education, Law, Crime, International Relations, Health, Employment, Environment, Quality of life, Happiness, Liberty, Wealth, Standard of living, Power

I can imagine being just as happy in a variety of places around the world. By that I mean over time, not just on a vacation but over time. I prefer to just stay where I am because it works for me, and from what I gather subjectively it seems the USA has other countries whipped when you consider all the factors wholisticly.

With regards to the Greener Grass syndrome, Nathan Feiles suggests:

I think the cliche should be changed to this: “The grass is only as green as we keep it.”
