I've lost control of the trees at my lake property. After not mowing the meadows for almost a decade, it would take a bulldozer to clean it up now.

At the open pit iron mines in N. Mn, they piled the overburden into mountain sized humps. Nothing but hard hard rock.

In about 10 years trees start sprouting in that rock. After 50 years it is completely covered with trees. After 75 years you cannot tell an old mine dump from a natural hill. This is without ANY help from humans.
