"As the American presence dissipated"

The American presence didn't "dissipate".

It hightailed it out of the country. Picked up and left.

We were all ready for it to end, but we shouldn't have in that manner. Unlike many of the decisions the Left complains about Bush for making, the decision to walk out in this way was clearly a mistake on the day it was made.

Why should I have a solution? I know of no solution. I was just stating it as most people do not have the big picture of how the ME is evolving.

One has to understand the problem before they can even think of an answer.

I think we should monitor the middle east with our NATO allies but only operate in conjunction with them. which Obama seems OK with.

China and Russia are the big problems. And Bush cozied up to both of them.
