As I understand it this idea that the first chapters of Genesis have to be interpreted exactly literally or the whole Gospel fall apart is only about 100/150 years old.

my son has been going to a catholic middle school for three years and starts at a catholic high school this year. They teach evolution.
I never understood why god wasn't smart enough or powerful enough to create evolution.
