You were a failure while others succeeded in the exact same environment. Your response? Not my fault. Not really, I argue, that in the Capitalist Society, the purpose of a corporation is to "maximize the profits purely for stockholders." John Chambers, CISCO CEO, made such a statement, my responsibility is to the stockholders. In a free market society, corporations will go where it can, (1) maximize prices based on the consumer willingness to pay, and (2) lower labor cost (fringes, wages, etc.) based on what employees will work for. Naturally, the economic concepts of "supply and demand," come into play. Then, in todays society, automation (computers, robots, and 3D computers and 3D printers) come into play. If corporations can not get lower wages in the US, then they move their corporations to an underdeveloped country with a surplus of potential employees to perform the labor intense work. Plus, the corporations keep their taxes low rather than bring them back to the US. Within our technological World corporations can go where they wish. Like Japan, the US is becoming a older population. Without additional younger employees and corporations to pay into the retirement systems, (Social Security, Medicare, 401K, IRA's,etc.) many of the safety nets will fail. No longer do we have an agriculture society where families have gardens to produce foodstuff for their respective families. Additionally, many of our younger youth, do not/will not have the required skill sets for gainful employment which pays livable wages. IMO, "right to work states," only allow CEO's to drive down potential wages and fringes when there is an over supply of potential employees, automation/technology and immigration surplus. I guess that is why many of the Southern States have the highest poverty rates in the nation according to the Time Magazine. My wife and I have discussed, "we old timers have lived financially in the golden age." We worry about what the future will be for our grandkids since our kids are well educated with mechanical engineer, and school counselor degrees, and fully employed in those positions. A college education and trade school education is no guarantee of current or future employment. Within this type of environment, debt, and the refusal of the various political parties to work together it does not appear that manufacture and low skilled jobs will be returning quickly.
