The thing about Alinsky and his book is that any successful organization is going to follow at least some of its principles. Based on the actions, you can make a case that Alinsky heavily influenced the Tea Party. After all Freedomworks gives out copies of it to its leadership.

Soros securities conviction made him prominent with me. Also his involvement in Asia breaking currencies. I do believe he actually caused or instigated civil unrest in those countries in order to help his bets.
