I wouldn't swallow what the Americano has to say whole. The Americano is scared. And what he said didn;t make much sense.

It's true that a weaker dollar would hurt Japanese exports, but Japan is weighing that against more immediate pressing problems associated with their credit-worthyness.

As for America, I think it is an American problem when when the value of the dollars we hold destroyed so that capital coninues to flow to equity markets and the U.S. govt.

Finally, volatility amongst currencies is great news for precious metals. If we coninue to see this--what I would call a "currency war"--capital won't know where to flow, will throw up its hands, and adn settle into the real stuff.
