While living in DC in the 80's and 90's I met most of the local politicians [DC is a small town when it comes to politics - I wouldn't recognize our County Supervisor in Fairfax County if I saw him (or her - I don't even know who it is) on the street]. Most of them were brighter than you'd think, but Barry was one of the most impressive.
