I've never advocated that the Gov't get the heck out of our lives. I believe in very strong legislation and regulation of business to ensure fairness, a level playing field, ensure minimal corruption and political cronyism, and to minimize the rise of monopolies and oligopolies.

In fact, the single thing I've advocated ad nauseum is Gov't ACTION to execute the laws on the books. I'm not anti-government. I think the Gov't plays a very important role in our lives and should be responsible in its actions.

As far as breaking banks apart, the government absolutely does have the authority to do that. We did it during the S&L crisis. It's de-regulation that has opened the doors to the disastrous consequences within the financial and banking sectors we're facing now. I want banking to be boring. Let the investment banks separate from the depository banks and then the investment banks can lose all their investor's money if they want without requiring a bailout by the taxpayers.
