It looks like you took some time and put in some effort in spelling out your thoughts. It tells me that you are a realist in the way you see things. What I ponder is what it will take those Washingtonians (DC types) to really abandon their hard held extreme positions and start to work towards issues that will be good for this country. We do not have so many problems as third world countries do. In those countries we have folks in politics that genuinely believe in the people, want to do something good for them And no matter what policies they adopt, they do not have the resources etc. to do good for the people. America is blessed in that Americans in general are very honest and hard working folks, a rarity in some of the developing countries. What we are not blessed with are politicians who are blind to the people's needs and instead are sensitzed by dogmas.

Do you figure a person who does not take a position on whether the earth is round, or revolves around the sun ,freer than a person who believes it is round and revolves around the sun? There are some common sense things like knowing slavery and segregation is wrong, where a person can be on the right or wrong side. And being on the right side does not mean you are not free; it means you are not stupid-lol. << The extent to which anyone attempts to delude themselves about their opponents (being unscientific, unreasonable, wacko, etc) further justifies their narrow and dogmatic bondage. A person who is not bound by either right or left wing script is free to be.
