Well, no Betamax comparison here (because -those- are BORING - I still get a chuckle when that comes up on the main AAPL page), but this is smelling very much like OS/2 here. Much of why OS/2 bombed was lack of timely applications. By the time any decent applications came out, Windows had won the war.
